Women of Troy Free Essay Example, 1750 words

Then finally enters Helen the cause of the Achaean War now on trial by the Spartan king Menelaus who revenged his brother’s death by reducing Troy to rubble and a city of ashes. ‘The Trojan Women’ begins with Poseidon lamenting over the death of Trojan heroes and the fall of Troy at the hands of the Greek as a result of the Achaean war. The war for Helen of Troy cost the lives of Achilles a Spartan warrior together with the lives of the Achaean king and Hector a Trojan prince. The war also cost both nations more than ten thousand troops and ten years of fighting. Afterwards, after the war, Talthybius the Greek Herald brings the bad news for the women. Hecuba, who was also the queen of Troy, is condemned to be the slave of Odysseus a Greek General after the loss of her husband. Her daughter Cassandra is to be dragged away as the concubine of Agamemnon. Talthybius also hides the sacrifice of Hecuba’s other daughter Polyxena and instead tells her that her dau ghter is a maid at the tomb of Achilles. Of all the heathen gods that survived the past few centuries, it comes without a doubt that the Greek gods as portrayed in the various Grecian odes, plays, verses and manuscripts remain the most famous and the most known among men. Talthyibius returns with yet another message for Andromache. Knowing what the Achaeans had done with killing Hector and dragging his body for everyone to see, Talthybius bears the bad news for Andromache’s son Astyanax who has to be killed to avert the probability of revenging his father’s death. This throws Andromache into a mà ©lange of emotions and grief as her son is thrown off a cliff further deepening the hatred between the Trojan women and the Achaeans. Odysseus actions claim the life of yet another Trojan and to him this is just the beginning. From the bosom of war enters Menelaus the Spartan king and in a judgmental tone and deeply infuriated summons Hecuba and Helen. He begins by condemning the war and says that it was not the love of Helen that caused the war but Paris’s stupid move to snatch her away under his nose and furthermore during a peace council between the Spartans and the Trojans. From the metallic stance in his voice he expresses a desire to kill Helen for the loss of his fellow countrymen. Helen takes the stand to defend herself tears and fear welling up in her. Helen blames Aphrodite for her beauty and for the charm that attracted Paris to her.

Biography of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Franklin Delano Roosevelt, (1882-1945), 32nd of the United States. Roosevelt became president in March 1933 at the depth of the Great Depression, was reelected for an unprecedented three more terms, and died in office in April 1945, less than a month before the surrender of Germany in World War II. Despite an attack of poliomyelitis, which paralyzed his legs in 1921, he was a charismatic optimist whose confidence helped sustain the American people during the strains of economic crisis and world war. The Democratic organization in Dutchess county, the area around Hyde Park, needed a candidate for the New York state Senate in 1910. Party leaders recognized that although Roosevelt had no political experience he had assets as a candidate: the wealth to finance a campaign, and the best-known political name in the United States. Logic by Logic free essay sample

I first discovered Logic in my sophomore year of high school. The first song I ever heard was Young Jesus from the album The Incredible True Story. I was instantly hooked, I was sucked into his music and I started discovering more and more of it. It wasnt long until I had realized that I had listened to all of his music at the time, and now Ive heard his new music too. Ive heard it all from the Under Pressure album all the way up to this years Bobby Tarantino II. Logics music has always caught my attention. There are very few songs that I can say need some improvement. I wasnt too impressed with his last album but it does have a few good songs. Bobby Tarantino II is a great successor to his previous album titled Everybody. The new album has some of the best songs Ive heard from Logic yet. We will write a custom essay sample on Logic by Logic or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This album really takes me back to the first time I ever heard his music. The beats and his quick rhymes makes me reminisce about the good times of my sophomore year and in a way it shows me how far Ive come and how much Ive changed. The song Boom-trap Protocol is probably my favorite song on this latest album and its also one of my all time favorites. One thing I can say for sure is that his beats never disappoint. Logic has been one of my top five favorite artists. Logic has good flow in his music too. I really think that some of his songs were specifically crafted for certain events and to give you certain feelings. Logics music tells you a story about some of the worst places in America and he reminds us that no matter where youre from you can always work hard to better yourself because there is always room for improvement. Logic tells us that for some people, music is all they have. It might be a way to cope with the hardships of certain events, it might be the only way that so meone is accepted and for some its a getaway from their lives, they are free to create and critique. This is why I think Logics music is unique, because a lot of todays music doesnt tell a story, a lot of todays music hardly makes sense. Music is supposed to build you up and fill you with courage and willpower but some of todays music is just ignorant words spewed across a page. Logics music wont get old for me because of how it speaks to me and to the countless other fans out there. Music should stand for something.
