Women of Troy Free Essay Example, 1750 words
Then finally enters Helen the cause of the Achaean War now on trial by the Spartan king Menelaus who revenged his brotherââ¬â¢s death by reducing Troy to rubble and a city of ashes. ââ¬ËThe Trojan Womenââ¬â¢ begins with Poseidon lamenting over the death of Trojan heroes and the fall of Troy at the hands of the Greek as a result of the Achaean war. The war for Helen of Troy cost the lives of Achilles a Spartan warrior together with the lives of the Achaean king and Hector a Trojan prince. The war also cost both nations more than ten thousand troops and ten years of fighting. Afterwards, after the war, Talthybius the Greek Herald brings the bad news for the women. Hecuba, who was also the queen of Troy, is condemned to be the slave of Odysseus a Greek General after the loss of her husband. Her daughter Cassandra is to be dragged away as the concubine of Agamemnon. Talthybius also hides the sacrifice of Hecubaââ¬â¢s other daughter Polyxena and instead tells her that her dau ghter is a maid at the tomb of Achilles. Of all the heathen gods that survived the past few centuries, it comes without a doubt that the Greek gods as portrayed in the various Grecian odes, plays, verses and manuscripts remain the most famous and the most known among men. Talthyibius returns with yet another message for Andromache. Knowing what the Achaeans had done with killing Hector and dragging his body for everyone to see, Talthybius bears the bad news for Andromacheââ¬â¢s son Astyanax who has to be killed to avert the probability of revenging his fatherââ¬â¢s death. This throws Andromache into a mà ©lange of emotions and grief as her son is thrown off a cliff further deepening the hatred between the Trojan women and the Achaeans. Odysseus actions claim the life of yet another Trojan and to him this is just the beginning. From the bosom of war enters Menelaus the Spartan king and in a judgmental tone and deeply infuriated summons Hecuba and Helen. He begins by condemning the war and says that it was not the love of Helen that caused the war but Parisââ¬â¢s stupid move to snatch her away under his nose and furthermore during a peace council between the Spartans and the Trojans. From the metallic stance in his voice he expresses a desire to kill Helen for the loss of his fellow countrymen. Helen takes the stand to defend herself tears and fear welling up in her. Helen blames Aphrodite for her beauty and for the charm that attracted Paris to her.

Biography of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Essay - 3679 Words
Biography of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Franklin Delano Roosevelt, (1882-1945), 32nd of the United States. Roosevelt became president in March 1933 at the depth of the Great Depression, was reelected for an unprecedented three more terms, and died in office in April 1945, less than a month before the surrender of Germany in World War II. Despite an attack of poliomyelitis, which paralyzed his legs in 1921, he was a charismatic optimist whose confidence helped sustain the American people during the strains of economic crisis and world war. He was one of Americas most controversial leaders. Conservatives claimed that he undermined states rights and individual liberty. Though Roosevelt labored hard to end the Depression, he had limitedâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Her father, one of James business associates, had made and lost fortunes in the China trade before settling with his wife and 11 children on the west bank of the Hudson. Sara had sailed to China as a girl, attended school abroad, and moved in high social circles in London and Paris. Though only half her husbands age of 52 at the time of her marriage in 1880, she settled in happily at Hyde Park. Their marriage was serene until broken by James death in 1900. His record at Harvard, which he attended between 1900 and 1904, was only slightly more impressive. Thanks to his excellent preparation at Groton, he was able to complete his course of study for his B.A. in 1903, in only three years. During his fourth year he served as editor of the Crimson, the college newspaper. However, he was not accepted for Porcellian, Harvards most prestigious social club, and he did not receive much stimulation in the classroom. As at Groton, his grades were mediocre, and he showed no excitement about his studies. At this point politics gave him a sense of purpose. The Democratic organization in Dutchess county, the area around Hyde Park, needed a candidate for the New York state Senate in 1910. Party leaders recognized that although Roosevelt had no political experience he had assets as a candidate: the wealth to finance a campaign, and the best-known political name in the United States. Trust Management of Services in Cloud Environments â⬠Free Samples
Question: Discuss about the Trust Management of Services in Cloud Environments. Answer: Introduction: The unique Identifying number for the general trust accounts is a mandatory criterion that has been issued under the Property Stock and Business Agents Regulation 2014. As per the said law, every licensee must obtain a unique identification number from the NSFW trading account and provide the same to the authorised institution who will be taking their deposits i.e. the bank. All the monthly returns that are provided by these institutions must contain the unique identification number. No return will be accepted without this number mentioned on them. It is important for every licensee to follow the same to carry forward their business. (Stivers 2017) All the new and the already existing trust accounts can apply for their unique identification number through the NSW website. It will be a unique to each of the trust and will help them to carry their business smoothly. In case a corporation is holding the trust account, then the trust account will need the licence number of the corporatio n to be registered. If a licensee maintains multiple trust accounts then each account needs to be registered separately. Then each unique identification number is required to be nominated with the bank accounts they are associated. The llicensee needs to notify the authorised institution in specific forms that a unique identification number has been obtained for the general trust account. When the account closes, then also the notification must be provided to the relevant authorities. The number is the identity of the trust accounts and all the transactions must happen through the same (Noor, Sheng, Zeadally and Yu, 2013). In case of the general trust accounts, if the payment is made by a different person then the one whose name is mentioned on the sale contract. Then the trust will issue the receipt to the person who is making the payment and along with that ,it will include a note that will specify that the payment was done by a person other than the one whose name was mentioned on the contract of sale. The name of the person who is paying will also be specified along with that. This is done to prevent any kind of confusion. (Fairtrading.nsw.gov.au, 2017) Withdrawals from trust accounts are allowed only in very few situations. One can withdraw money from the trust if they want to make payment to any third party for any expenses. If they are paying the seller their part of the sale price that was agreed. In case they want to claim their fees and charges, they can withdraw money from the trust. In case of payment for a final purchase or a deposit, payment must be done only when the transaction is complete. The seller must be paid his dues first, and after that money must be withdrawn for any commission or fees. In specific cases payment, money should be stored in the trust account until the time is appropriate to withdraw it. It should be withdrawn only for the specific purpose that it has been stored and should be used then only. This is the general rule for withdrawing of money from the trust accounts for various purposes. Maintenance of the trust accounts as per the relevant criteria is an important requirement is to be followed. As an auditor, there are various provisions to be followed for verification the relevance of these trust accounts. The important provisions for maintenance of trust accounts are that each trust account must be separated with a unique identification number, and they must have documents to verify the same. It is important for the account holders to ensure that each account is associated with a different nominee bank. Different source documents in relation to the transactions of the trust accounts must be maintained and must be verified accordingly. There must be reconciliation of the same with the other party (Cherry, 2016). In case of withdrawal of funds, funds for specific purposes must be withdrawn only for that purpose and at time when it is needed. All the withdrawals must be verified by the bank. It must be checked that all the transactions are recorded in time. Any discrepancies in the accounts must be informed to the relevant authorities in time. All the relevant security arrangements are done and implemented. Before any kind of disbursement of money, it should be checked that the transaction is completed and also the same must be authorised It is also important to check that all kinds of payments from the trust along with withdrawals are properly authorised by the relevant authorities. In case of payment to third parties care should be taken to ensure that is in line with the policy requirements (Zaltzman and Le, 2017) Also it must be checked that the staffs who are asked to manage the trust accounts are properly qualified for the same. Proper audit and security arrangements must be checked of these accounts so that adequate client protection is provided along with management of the fund accounts. All the relevant security arrangements are done and implemented (Ellwood and Garcia-Lacalle, 2016). Withdrawal for personal use should not be allowed. Distribution of money must occur directly from the account of the trust. Transferring of money from any general account is illegal. The trust should fulfil these criteria, if the bank is not allowing the same then it should change the bank. In case of any person who is entitled to receive the money of the trust cannot be identified then such money shall be identified as unclaimed money by the authorities. It must be used as per the provisions of the law. The trust must also maintain important records that include the cashbook, journals, ledgers, and a deposit book of the trust account. All the books of account must record all the transactions of the trust and must be properly audited. Steps should be taken to make sure that periodic reconciliation is properly verified with the records of the licensee. All the financial records are thoroughly prepared and must be discussed with the authorities. All the other requirements must be met. With the help of all these audit can be completed and the discrepancies in the process can be sorted (Hanks Zolla 2017) Refrences: Cherry, M., 2016. Logic by Logic free essay sample
I first discovered Logic in my sophomore year of high school. The first song I ever heard was Young Jesus from the album The Incredible True Story. I was instantly hooked, I was sucked into his music and I started discovering more and more of it. It wasnt long until I had realized that I had listened to all of his music at the time, and now Ive heard his new music too. Ive heard it all from the Under Pressure album all the way up to this years Bobby Tarantino II. Logics music has always caught my attention. There are very few songs that I can say need some improvement. I wasnt too impressed with his last album but it does have a few good songs. Bobby Tarantino II is a great successor to his previous album titled Everybody. The new album has some of the best songs Ive heard from Logic yet. We will write a custom essay sample on Logic by Logic or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This album really takes me back to the first time I ever heard his music. The beats and his quick rhymes makes me reminisce about the good times of my sophomore year and in a way it shows me how far Ive come and how much Ive changed. The song Boom-trap Protocol is probably my favorite song on this latest album and its also one of my all time favorites. One thing I can say for sure is that his beats never disappoint. Logic has been one of my top five favorite artists. Logic has good flow in his music too. I really think that some of his songs were specifically crafted for certain events and to give you certain feelings. Logics music tells you a story about some of the worst places in America and he reminds us that no matter where youre from you can always work hard to better yourself because there is always room for improvement. Logic tells us that for some people, music is all they have. It might be a way to cope with the hardships of certain events, it might be the only way that so meone is accepted and for some its a getaway from their lives, they are free to create and critique. This is why I think Logics music is unique, because a lot of todays music doesnt tell a story, a lot of todays music hardly makes sense. Music is supposed to build you up and fill you with courage and willpower but some of todays music is just ignorant words spewed across a page. Logics music wont get old for me because of how it speaks to me and to the countless other fans out there. Music should stand for something.

Free Essays on Survival In Auschwitz Review
Survival in Auschwitz In 1944, Primo Levi was abducted by the fascist government in Italy and shipped off to Auschwitz, Nazi death camp. Many people do not know that the concentration camps were not only for those of Jewish descent. Unfortunately, political prisoners, criminals, gypsies, and homosexuals were also tossed away. Until reading this book, I had a vague idea of what went on inside of the Nazi concentration camps. Most of my knowledge of the Holocaust stems from textbooks or from firsthand accounts that do not center around camp life. This book gives a vivid account of the atrocities committed by the Nazis. One of the more striking aspects of this work is the attitudes toward each other the ââ¬Å"inmatesâ⬠have. Every man is really for himself, and the newer detainees have to learn the camp rules the hard way. Levi is even left wanting his spoon, bowl, and gloves upon entrance to the Ka-Be, because no one told him that personal effects were forbidden. He speaks of the practice, which everyone learns, of bundling everything one owns in their jacket and keeping it under their head as a pillow so that no one would steal it. I would have thought there would have been more a sense of camaraderie among the inmates. Levi states, however, that when oneââ¬â¢s humanity is stripped from them, they live for themselves and themselves only. He finally catches a glimpse of humanity toward the end of the novel, when a young Franco-Pole, Towarowski, offers those who helped carry the stove to their hut a little extra of his bread and suggests that everyone else do the same. Levi is touch ed by this move, and mused ââ¬Å"only a day before a similar event would have been inconceivable. The law of the Lager said: ââ¬Ëeat your own bread, and if you can, that of your neighbourââ¬â¢, and left no room for gratitude. It really meant that the Lager was dead.â⬠(Levi, 160). The eNotes Blog Letters to Juliet A Project of Love for theLovelorn
Letters to Juliet A Project of Love for theLovelorn One of my favorite things that has been going around the internet for some time is the EMO person who posted, What if hes your Romeo, but youre not his Juliet? The lightning-fast response was, That means youre his Rosaline and you survive the friggin play. Despite the reality of what happens to the star crossd lovers, the persistence in thinking of them as the romantic ideal lives on. See? Most people, even those who have never read or seen the play, are more likely to conjure up this image, or something close to it, than gruesome deaths: I didnt know, however, until I heard a story on NPRs Morning Edition yesterday, that men (mostly, I guess) have been penning letters to Juliet forà centuries.à Initially, shortly after the plays performances, people left notes at what was thought to be her tomb. The numbers of letters left became so great that the post office of Verona established a special office to handle the volume.à The remarkable thing about the letters left for Juliet is that she actually answers.à Well, understudies for Juliet do.à Dozens of volunteers in Verona, who call themselves The Juliet Club answer, by hand, each of the 6,000+ letters addressed to Shakespeares heroine each year. à All of the letters are retained in a massive archive, to which more letters are regularly added. The job must be tough but many of the volunteers have been at it for ten and twenty years, some even longer. What do they say to these heartbroken people? Here is one of their answers to someone who was driving herself crazy asking, What if? What and If are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if? I dont know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then its never too late. If it was true then, why wouldnt it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I dont know what a love like Juliets feels like love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for but Id like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I will have the courage to seize it. And, Claire, if you didnt, I hope one day that you will. Change has to be planned and directed from the top or otherwise the Essay
Change has to be planned and directed from the top or otherwise the organisation would be out of control. Discuss reasons for agreeing and disagreeing with this statement. Use examples - Essay Example ever, in order to understand the needs of the organization and implement the required changes within the company, it is necessary that the leaders of the organization are capable of anticipating, identifying, strategizing, planning and implementing them in an organized and timely manner. While it might be of a general view that only the top management is more capable of planning and directing changes within an organization, studies have also focused on the fact that any individual who is a member of the organization might initiate a needed change. Moreover, in the present context of changing working environment, the employees prefer to get involved in the decision making processes as well (Stadtlà ¤nder, 2006, p.17). The present study focuses on an understanding whether organizational change has to be planned and directed from the top or otherwise the organisation would be out of control. Management of change within an organization requires considerate planning, performance and effective discussion as well with all those people who would be affected owing to the changes. The changes need to be sensible, attainable and assessable. The individuals or the authorities implementing the changes need to understand and manage the changes in such a manner such that the members of the organization can easily handle and accept those changes for the betterment of the organizational objectives as a whole. In this context, there is logical thinking necessary for the correct decision making. Thus, while considering such changes, the opinions and acceptance of all the people who might be affected also need to be considered (Change Management, 2012). It can be realized that in order to consider these above mentioned understanding and implementation of changes, matured minds would be required to take the decisions, to involve all other members in choosing the right changing policies. The employees or organizational members other than the top management might not have the sufficient
